[0] - Introduction

My final year at University has been getting rather chaotic, in a fun and challenging way.

Lots of projects to be completed, roles with duties to be upheld and planning for the future ahead. It never really hits me until I list it all out, and then it does put everything into perspective. But it helps. No matter how many pages of notes, may it be OneNote, Google Keep or just on paper, nothing beats being able to talk about it. It brings me satisfaction to speak about what I do to people as it brings it all down to earth.

However, will I remember all of this, the journey so far, when my journey at University is at an end and I go into full-time employment? Though I am sure there will be new and exciting projects to be worked on ahead, it is always good to be able to look back - to show people the journey to where I will be at the present time, and that is exactly what I plan on doing with this website. Gradually, I will write up my progress on each project or thing I am doing that will amount to a growing jigsaw puzzle of antics and such. Here, not only I but the curious reader can get a glimpse of my progress.

But what exactly am I working on? As part of my University final year, my current pieces of coursework are:

  • An Android-based Open Day app for my Mobile Platform Applications module, programmed in Java

  • A Unity Engine-based Serious Game in the form of a team-based ‘challenge cracker’, as part of my Serious Games module, using C#

  • A Unity Engine-based Virtual Reality Carnival, as part of my Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality module, using C#

  • As part of my Final Year Project, I am looking into the suitability of Virtual Reality for the task of Travel Training, via creating a scenario simulator, using C#

  • Finally, for my Graphics for Games module, I am visualising a solar system using physics in Processing 3.5.3

For side-projects, I am currently working on:

  • A personalised web-page to be used as a home page/new tab that has quick-access to regularly used sites, using HTML/CSS

  • This very website, using Squarespace

  • A 1:1 of my campus in Unity for agents in the thousands to navigate between buildings

  • Looking into train APIs such as National Rail Enquiries for visualising train arrivals and departures, using Python

I look forward to go into further detail on each of these as I expand my website.
